About Simon F
A-Level / GCSE Maths Tutor
Based in South Manchester, I have been teaching Maths for 14 years. I have recently taught at a 6th form college teaching A-Level Maths as well as leading the GCSE course. Prior to that, I taught at a high school covering all year groups and levels. I have also taught in a specialist school for students who need support with their mental health.
I offer support to students from years 11-19+ across all levels of attainment and support all exam boards.
My diagnostic approach is designed to understand your needs, plug gaps and build your confidence. Whether you are doing A-Level, GCSE Higher, GCSE Foundation, iGCSE, GCSE Further Maths or any other related course, lessons will be individually tailored to your needs; content will be sped up, slowed down or changed depending on how a particular lesson progresses. If you are doing GCSE Maths but planning to do A-Level, I can offer focused help on some key topics to help you bridge the gap to A-Level.
In Maths, lack of confidence is one of the biggest barriers to success. My experience and training includes working with students that have anxiety, autism and other mental and physical health conditions. Through my friendly, encouraging and calm approach to learning, students will gain greater confidence and resilience each week.
Feel free to book me for one-off lessons to untangle a specific issue or book a regular weekly lesson. With me, you will get the continuity of the same, highly qualified, tutor each week. I can be flexible on time and duration of sessions. I am enthusiastic and committed and will put time and energy into making sure that every session is properly prepared and leads to progress. I`m not the cheapest but I aim to offer good value for money. Together, we will be a team, and I will help you achieve the best you can.
For the parents: As the father of two grown up children, I am very aware of the challenges of getting the right support for your child and also the significant costs that can be involved. As a tutor, I aim to build a partnership between the student, the parents and myself. It is important that we understand each other`s expectations. I am very confident that every child that works with me will make significant progress. However if, at any time, you think it’s not working just cancel. I fully understand the need to find the best solution for you, and will not be offended!
