I'm currently an Economics Undergraduate at Queens' College, Cambridge. I achieved a clean sweep of A*s in both GCSE's and A-Levels, and although I study Economics, I am able to teach Maths and German as well up until A-Level.
Experience:
- Kumon: I am a classroom assistant at Kumon in Maths and English. Here, I particularly teach younger students basic maths. This is harder than it sounds, as elementary maths is what most adults can do instinctively without much thought. Explaining it to children, who haven't yet mastered this skill, requires real clarity and precision, a skill I've developed through my experience at Kumon. I will be able to apply this clarity and precision to older students for more complex topics.
- My Tutor: Here, I taught students of various abilities at GCSE and A-Level, which is what I'll be offering on this platform. I leant to vary my pace of delivery and detail of explanation based on the intelligence level of the student. I successfully improved my students' performance in Maths and German by at least 1 grade, based on my internal assessments taken every 5 weeks.

Approach to Tutoring:
I like to take an approach of patience and clarity.
Patience to repeat explanations until it's clear to the student. I can figure whether a student has understood through their facial expressions and their performance in example questions I set them. I find that repetition of explanation, and emphasis of key phrases helps to force the message into students' heads.
Clarity, to ensure that the student understands what you are saying. This in particular means that I ought not to skip chains of reasoning, which appear simple to me, but won't appear simple to the student.
Lastly, I then like to make sure that the student gets adequate practice. I set practice examples during the session to ensure understanding, but I later also set homework practice to ensure that the student solidifies his understanding and fluency for any given topic.
