About Jo C
Experienced Primary Teacher
I have been teaching for 6 years and prior to this I was a lawyer. I am experienced in helping children to pass their SATs exams at the end of year 6 but I am equally able to work with any child in KS2 that needs some additional support.
I believe that it is my enthusiasm for the subjects that I teach along with my own love of learning that inspires and motivates the children that I tutor. As a teacher, I understand the importance of providing children with enjoyable tutorials that engage and enrich them. I quickly build a rapport with each child that I tutor and do my utmost to help them thrive and grow educationally and personally.
To ensure a high quality learning experience for all my pupils, I deliver lessons that enrich the pupil’s understanding and stretch their thinking. I aim to promote independent thought by modelling how to ask good questions and I support less able children by scaffolding their learning whilst supporting them to achieve their best. I am able to select the most suitable strategy from my teaching toolkit to suit the lesson being delivered, e.g. direct instruction, independent practise, child-led learning, role-play, outdoor learning, group tasks, project-based learning and active learning. I also believe that it is important to demonstrate the connections between subject areas.
