About Myles A

A maths tutor specialising in 11+ and Primary School studies

As a tutor studying in the sixth form of a top independent school, I possess the first-hand experience of gaining a major academic scholarship through a tough selection process. Having achieved 99% in Mathematics GCSE a year early and gone on to gain a top grade in the Additional Mathematics FSMQ course, my study of the Further Maths A level has resulted in a deep interest and understanding of mathematical methods, and a real passion to teach in a clear way while stretching gifted students. I have developed a way of teaching via tuition within my school, which aims to create a level of conceptual understanding that will allow students to further advance in their mathematical careers in future, while realising success in the present. For many Mathematics is seen to be a chore. For these students I aim to introduce the thrill of problem solving and the skills necessary in both real life and in exams to emphasise the relevance and importance of mathematical study. For students who already have a real passion for Maths, I look to push that passion to covering topics not usually taught until further on and encouraging participation in the UK Maths Challenge, which I myself have experienced success in, in order to ensure those students are stretched as far as possible and their interest in the subject is maintained.
