About Rosie M
Maths English and Science Tutor - Primary to GCSE Level
As someone who is passionate about learning new things, I feel this naturally makes me a very good teacher.
I have continued to develop my repertoire of knowledge and skills long since leaving school in subjects ranging from Business Studies, Computing, Spanish, Marketing and currently Scientific Nutrition.
I regularly tutor the children of friends and family, which has helped me gain an understanding of the importance of different learning styles and teaching techniques.
I ensure I am well prepared for each session and plan in advance using effective resources to cater to individual children needs.
At the start of each session, I ask open-ended questions to allow me to gauge what they already know, enabling me to plan the areas of learning to be developed.
I also encourage an environment for the children to express their ideas and suggestions, as I believe it is extremely important for them to have control and confidence in their learning.
What's more it is my belief that learning should be fun! I ensure the children are engaged and stimulated and use lots of different examples to make the subjects relatable and interesting.
As a reflective practitioner, I regularly evaluate lessons to analyse improvement, progress and achievement. Reflection on lesson plans and observations help to identify misconceptions and allow me to adapt my teaching strategies and plans for future lessons.
I have high and realistic expectations of every pupil, to enable them to reach their full potential and to behave in a suitable manner. This can be achieved by providing good quality first-hand experiences, which are both stimulating and interesting. It is with excellent behaviour in and out of the classroom and the development of strong interpersonal relationships that children are encouraged to reach their full potential.
